0'Mahony for Galway as Mayo managers make headlines

Former Mayo and Leitrim senior football manager, John O'Mahony of Ballaghaderreen was expected to be confirmed as the new Galway manager at a meeting of the County Board last night.

Mr. O'Mahony, who is in his 40's, has given lifelong committment to the GAA and his appointment will surely prove a bonus for Galway who have been overshadowed by Mayo in Connacht in recent years.

Meanwhile, Mayo boss John Maughan, who has injury worries over reliable forward, Maurice Sheridan, is preparing for an All-Ireland semi-final clash with Offaly, who defeated All-Ireland champions Meath in the Leinster final on Saturday.

The Offaly manager is Tommy Lyons who has strong Mayo connections.
