Mayo Masters All Ireland bid

A case of one down and one to go. And while nothing will ever compare with a senior All Ireland title the county Over 40's team will be looking for support as their hard slog over the last six months comes to a conclusion this Saturday afternoon when they clash with Monaghan in the final.

Mayo Masters (over 40's) will be hoping to land another All Ireland title when they take on the Ulster team at Carrick-0n-Shannon this Saturday (3.30).

Mayo and Cavan had to go into extra time before a result was achieved in the semi-final but Mayo will be hoping for a big improvement on that performance if they are to reclaim a title they won two years ago.

This year the team has been strengthened by the addition of a few new players and the younger' legs should add a bit of bite to Mayo's biggest problem area, the attack.

Hollymount stalwart Patsy Walsh could be a fey figure up front while others that should have a big say in a Mayo win include Eugene McHale, Michael Collins, John Brennan, Martin Connolly, Padraic Flannery and John Sweeney.

However it will be to the experience of old hands such as Mick Higgins, Frank Kelly, John Malee, Des McGrath, and Tom Warde that Mayo will be looking towards on the day.
