TWENTY JOBS AT RELOCATED COMPUTER PRODUCTION FACILITY

15 October 1997

First industry sets up at Knock Airport

By Aiden Henry

Knock International Airport has received a major boost with the locating at the base of a high-tech Irish computer company. This is the first facility to occupy the Industrial Estate adjoining the airport complex.

Market Innovators Europe Ltd., has relocated all of its manufacturing and distribution operation from Dublin to a complex at the airport's industrial estate. Over the next six to nine months twenty new jobs will be created at the plant in the production of both computer hardware and software.

The company was set up just over two years ago by the founding directors, Mr. David Moorhouse and Mr. Tino Wong and has grown rapidly ever since.

Mr. Moorhouse explained to the Connaught Telegraph the rationale behind Market Innovators move to Co. Mayo.

He said: "We had completely outgrown our initial premises in Lucan and spent quite some time examining where we felt the most ideal location might be.

"We were very attracted to moving West for a wide variety of reasons - availability of workforce, skilled people, road and air transport infrastructure.

"In fact it made much moor commercial sense to relocate the major part of our operation to Mayo than to relocate the entire facilities within Dublin."

Market Innovators build a range of computer systems to suit their customers' different needs. .Most of the computers in the range contain high speed modems. The PCS come with pre-loaded software each for reference, entertainment and business.

They also handle the INOGA games series and as add-ons they can provide an extensive range of upgrades and accessories from joysticks and gamepads to modems, scanners and printers.

Earlier this year Market Innovators were given the Irish franchise for the distribution of Trust Computer Products which is the European brand for a complete range of high quality computer products.

Mr. Moorhouse confirmed that within the next ten days the first ten workers will commence operations at Knock.
