Big blow for Mayo

Mayo were dealt a cruel blow at the weekend when their star corner forward Kenneth Mortimer was taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg.
According to Mayo manager John Maughan, Mortimer will be in plaster until after Christmas.
The injury occurred as the 23 year-old, who is short-listed for the GAA Writers 'Player of the year award' turned out for his club Shrule/Glencorrib in a crunch division two relegation battle which his team lost.
Brian Heffernan from Ballina is likely to get the call up I to replace Mortimer in the Mayo team to play Galway at McHale P in Section A of the league on Sunday in what is seen as the crunch tie in the division and an indictor for the championship with the two sides destined to meet in the opening round for the second successive year.
Maughan also welcomed the return of Pat Fallon from honeymoon and indicated he is likely to start Liam McHale , despite the fact that the Ballina man as a crunch National Basketball Cup tie with his club in Waterford on Saturday night.
McHale was introduced as a sub in Mayo's opening game when they beat Fermanagh. "We expect this to be a full blooded encounter and for obvious reasons it is important Mayo win", said Maughan who will be up against former Mayo manager, John 0'Mahony who is now in charge of Galway.
He said it was not time for experimenting.
"I don't think Sunday's game is one for experimenting. We must win it and I will be putting out the strongest possible team", he said..
