The V.H.F. equipment, worth £500, is used during day to day Order of Malta operations and during the annual pilgrimage to Croagh Patrick. Lt. Martin McNally, Officer in Charge of the Westport unit, said yesterday (Tue): " The equipment was taken from an ambulance during a break-in at our premises in St. Mary's Crescent over the weekend. "The radio is tuned to our own frequenecy and is of little use to the thief or thieves. I would appeal for the return of the radio as its loss hinders our rescue capabilities". This is the second time in a year that the Order of Malta in Westport has been targetted. Some time ago, a siren was stolen in a break-in to an ambulance.
