PLANNING GO-AHEAD FOR 85-BEDROOMED COMPLEX
Planning permission has been granted for the building of a multi-million pound luxury hotel at the Quay, Westport.
The 85-bedroomed development will take place at Cloonmonad at the Quay which has received a major facelift in recent years and is now one of the main tourist focal points in the seaside town.
Behind the hotel project are Dublin based Masterchefs Hotels Ltd., with an address at Chapelizod Industrial Estate, Chapelizod, Dublin 20.
They had sought permission from the planing section of Westport urban Council to demolish the existing derelict mill buildings and a house and construct the ultra-modern hotel complex on the site.
Included in the proposals is a bar, restaurant, function room and kitchen facilities. A leisure centre will offer guests a range of facilities including swimming pool, changing rooms, sea baths and gymnasium. Provisions is also made for the provision of seventy-eight car parking spaces.
The development when completed will further add to the attraction of Westport as a tourist destination.
Meanwhile, the demolition of buildings on Mill Street has taken place to make way for another hotel development in Westport town.
