'Lord of the Dance' role for talented Tanya
A 17-years old Castlebar Irish dancer is to step it out in Michael Flatley "Lord of The Dance" spectacular in London, later this month. Tanya Redmond-Morahan is daughter of Lar and Patricia Morahan of Station Road, Castlebar and is a member of the Redmond Academy of Irish Dancing of which her grandmother, Dot Redmond is the founder. Tanya, will take time out from a summer cabaret show on the Aran Islands, to appear in "Lord of the Dance" after which she will resume her role in the Irish Mor production, before rejoining the Flatlet production on a full-time basis and could be assigned to any the several production touring the world.. Tanya said last night: "I was delighted with the news. I have always been a fan of Michael Flatley, having met him on several occasions. The London show is a great challenge and I am greatly looking forward to it and later joining the cast as a full-time member." Tanya flies out this Friday for rehearsals for the open air show which will be staged in London's Hyde Park on July 25. But she is no stranger to the Irish dancing scene having participated in the world championships on several occasions as well as dancing abroad. Tanya added: "I did the audition for "Lord of the Dance" some time ago after which I was approached to join the Irish Mor summer show. "The producers there have been more than understanding in giving me time off for the London trip and they will release me from the show when I join 'Lord of the Dance' on a full time basis."
