Cement site already too noisy - EPA EXCESSIVE noise levels already exist at the site near Kilkelly where it is planned to build a £30 million cement factory, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Now the Tooreen Action Group, which is opposed to the cement plant, says that almost all of the noise measurements taken by the EPA would be in breach of any license to build the proposed cement plant. "This means that even before the cement factory is built, the noise levels are above acceptable levels", Action Group spokesman Mr. Peter Cassidy stated last night (Tue). The EPA has also informed developer Mr. Frank Harrington that he should submit a revised Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) by November 9th or the matter "will be dismissed or otherwise determined". The difficulties with the EIS means that a Bord Pleanala decision on the cement factory won't be made until later this year instead of this month as earlier anticipated.
