Fisheries Board raise objection
to Ballindine
proposal
A major housing proposal for Ballindine is under
question.
Mayo
County Council granted planning permission to Patrick
Carey for 34 two-storey houses, upgrading, widening and
surfacing of existing access road to provide carriageway and
footpath at Newtown North, Ballindine.
Now the Western Regional Fisheries Board has lodged an
objection to An Bord Pleanala against the project.
The decision of County Council to refuse planning
permission for a 58-house development at Laghtavarry,
Ballyvary,
Castlebar, is in
dispute.
The developer, Frank Walsh, has appealed to An Bord
Pleanala seeking to overturn the verdict.
Roderick Moran has appealed the decision of the council
to give the go-ahead to Joe Grimes for six houses at
Knockfereen, Ballinrobe.
Michael Duffy and Patsy Gibbons are opposing the decision
to grant planning permission to Molloy Shellfish Limited,
Moyna, Kilmeena, Westport,
to construct a roof over the existing open yard and modify
front elevation of existing factory.
Eircell Limited have appealed against the refusal of
planning permission to erect a 26m. Telecommunications
support structure and antennae at Tawnyard, Drummin,
Westport.
Members of the Ballintubber
Tourism Co-operative Society are fighting the decision to
allow the erection of a mast, by Eircell Limited, at Ranns,
Creeragh, Ballintubber.
Martin and Ann Coyne have lodged an appeal against the
decision of Mayo County Council to refuse planning
permission for two semi-detached self contained one bedroom
flats at Paddock Road, Westport.
Approval for housing
project
Castlebar contractor Tony Gaughan has got the go-ahead
for a 60-house development at Ballynaboll South, Westport
Road, Castlebar. An Bord Pleanala approved the proposal with
revised planning conditions.
The way has been cleared by the planning appeals board
for Esat Digiphone to erect a 21m high support structure
carrying cellular antennae at Carrowrevagh, Liscarney,
Westport. However, revised planning conditions have bene
imposed.
An Bord Pleanala has overturned the decision of Mayo
County Council to grant permission to Michael Gillan for
three houses at Toomore West, Ballyvary.
An appeal against the decision to grant planning
permission to David Kelly for a house, septic tank and
provision of mobile home at Carrowmore South, Claremorris,
has been withdrawn.
More major developments in the
pipeline
A number of major developments are included in the list
of new planning applications which have been lodged with
Castlebar Urban Council.
The provision of an Education Centre at Knockaphunta is
in the pipeline as well as a supermarket at the rear of the
Travellers Friend Hotel.
An extension is also planned to the newly-opened Mayo
Movie World at the Old Bacon Factory site.

Castlebar Urban Council have granted planning permission
for twelve new developments in the town.
Extension to existing dwelling at the Curragh [Gerry
Costello].
Extension and renovation of existing bar including two
new shopfronts at Market Square [Declan
Rowland].
Change of use from storage to retail at Bridge Street
[John Ivers].
Extend and reconstruct dwelling at 9, Rathbawn Drive
[William Thornton].
New exit door, canopy, signage and associated site works
at Mayo Roller Bowl [Barcastle Industries
Limited].
Four screen cinema complex, three shop units and 18
apartments on second floor [Cavendish Lane Properties
Limited].
To make good existing sheds incorporating new rood and
one attic bedroom [Bruce Donaldson].
Construct two storey extension to rear of existing office
building together with all ancillary site works and services
at Swimming Pool Road [Western Care
Association].
Commercial development including five retail units on
ground floor with offices over at Link Road, Knockacroghery
