Brown Trout: Salmo trutta fario.

It needs cool, clean oxygen rich water, it chooses either fast-flowing streams or cold (above 26°C will kill it) deep lakes. its pattern mimics its surroundings - lake fish are silvery with pink flesh. The lake trout move into the rivers when spawning in winter. The rainbow trout is able to withstand warmer and less oxygenated water. The Open Season for Trout is 1st March to 30th September, but the cold weather conditions usually postpones fishing until April. From May 10th, the yellowish-green mayfly rises unless delayed by cold weather. The first two years of its life is spent as a nymph underwater. A mayfly then emerges from its larva state on a fine May morning, flies about in search of a partner, no time for feeding - mates, lays her eggs and then by day's end dies and drops onto the lakewaters for the appreciative trout.

The patient heron visits here frequently. It is disliked by the fishermen. Sibs of fish per day may be consumed by the heron.
