Mayo County Council established a Strategic Arts Plan (2003-2006) which deals with development of the arts on a county-wide basis and also acknowledges and builds in support for organisations providing a quality arts service.
While there is a long history of quality arts delivery in Mayo, the implementation of this plan is a significant achievement for the arts in the county which is now underpinned by a strategic, developmental arts policy generated through extensive consultation.
The Mayo County Council Arts Service responds to identified needs of those who make and present art, together with those who are involved in the numerous other capacities within the arts sector.
Through the Mayo County Council Arts Service, support is provided to any of the following, working in Mayo:
- Artists
- Writers
- Musicians
- Dramatists
- Dancers
- Community arts workers
- Arts organisations
