With the advent of T na G three weeks ago Irish language enthusiasts are very proud. Starting this week, and continuing every week, the Connacht Telegraph is introducing a new Irish language column.....Beo go Deo.
Written by Máirtín G. O Maicín. a man who has an in-depth knowledge of the language and has been involved in the Irish language movement for the past twenty years. The column will deal with everyday events of interest and pay special attention to human interest stories.

THE SUICIDE Bereavement Support group, Solace, will hold a public talk in the Parish Centre, Chapel Street, Castlebar on Friday at 8p.m.The main speaker will be Dr. John F. Connolly, secretary of the Irish Association of Suicidology. He will address the theme The aftermath of suicide'. All are welcome and admission is free.
YOUTH LEADERSHIP COMPETITION
THE FINAL of the Rotary Youth Leadership competition will be held in Breaffy House Hotel, Castlebar tomorrow (Thursday) evening at 6.30p.m. when the winners from seven second level schools will participate.They are Sinead Keane (Ballinrobe Community School); Paul Nevin (St. Coleman's, Claremorris); Charlotte Fahey (Mercy Mr. St. Michael's, Claremorris); Mary Stewart (Balla Secondary School); Michael McGuinness (St. Gerald's, Castlebar); Marie Beirne (Santa Maria, Louisburgh) and Toni Burke, (Davitt College, Castlebar).

SOD TURNING FOR NEW HOTEL
Trade and Tourism Minister Enda Kenny will turn the first sod for the development of the one-hundred bedroomed Knockranny House Hotel at Westport on Friday.Phase one of "Knockranny House Hotel" is scheduled to open in May 1997 and will include fifty luxury bedrooms, lounge, reception area, fitness rooms and sauna.
The second phase will include an additional fifty bedrooms and an ultra modern leisure complex with swimming pool and tennis courts. Work on phase two will be completed in 1998.
"Knockranny House Hotel" is being developed by Geraldine and Adrian Noonan.
Geraldine is daughter of Mary and Peter Corcoran, owners of The
Castlecourt Hotel, Castlebar Street, Westport.
