FAI PRESIDENT FETED

A special function to mark the appointment of Castlebar's Mr. Pat Quigley as President of the Football Association of Ireland will be held in Welcome Inn Hotel, Castlebar on Saturday night next commencing at 9.45 pm.

A number of presentations will be made to Mr. Quigley to mark his historic appointment.

A GREEN FINGERED JOB

Mayo County Council is seeking a horticulturist to join the staff of the authority. The new green-fingered appointee would have responsible for overseeing the development of green areas in the region.

DEPUTY MANAGER WELCOMED

Members of Mayo County Council have welcomed the arrival of Mr. Alex Fleming as Mayo Deputy County Manager. He replaces Mr. Paddy Fahy who went on promotion to Leitrim as county manager.

Mr. Fleming was introduced to the members of the authority at a meeting in Castlebar on Monday evening.

In responding to the welcome Mr. Fleming said he appreciated the warmth of the words of welcome extended to him. He looked forward to coming to live in Mayo and rear his family in the county.

BALLYHAUNIS CHAMBER MEETING

A very important meeting of the executive committee of Ballyhaunis Chamber of Commerce will be held in the Central Hotel on Monday night (9 pm).

The main item on the agenda will be a discussion on the proposed changes in the town's infrastructure which will result from the provision of the town's new sewerage and water schemes.

Earlier at 8 pm there will be a meeting of local publicans, Chamber of Commerce members and heads of local organisations to discuss the holding of a summer festival in Ballyhaunis.
