A BALLINROBE teenager is leading a drive to have thousands of peace stickers displayed on vehicles countrywide. The initiative by Vanessa Morley from New Street, came in the wake of the Canary Wharf bombing and the shattering of the peace talks. But the project is facing one major obstacle --- the cost of having the fliers printed.

28K Photo of 'Peace girl' Vanessa Morley Vanessa (15), a second year student at Ballinrobe Community School, designed the "sticker" displayed in the photo. It includes the slogan "I'm For Peace" on top of the British and Irish flags. The initial full colour print run of 20,000 will cost £4,509 which will be distributed throughout Connaught first.

If the necessary sponsorship is forthcoming the venture will be extended nationwide. Costs, she said are being kept at rock bottom and the price quoted does not show any margin of profit.

Vanessa's father Dominic Morley said she came up with the idea after the London bombing and spent some days designing the sticker. He said: "Vanessa was born in Birmingham and realises the acute problems the ending of the cease-fire will have for all sides. Her motive is to promote the idea of peace."

The sticker is so designed as to include at the bottom the logo's of firms or organisations who would like to cover all or part of the printing costs.

An account has been opened at the AIB Bank in Ballinrobe: code: 937053: account no: 332-97-184 and subscriptions can be paid in through any bank.

Vanessa added: "Displaying the sticker will put pressure on the politicians to get talking. It will also give the message to tourists that the vast majority of Irish people are against violence."
