O'Toole goal guides Garrymore to top
Garrymore 1-9 Hollymount 0-10
By Jonathan Mullins
Gary O'Toole's habit of claiming match-winning goals continued on Saturday evening, when his 33rd minute penalty maintained Garrymore's League momentum and helped them soar to the top of Division One.
A long ball from Jimmy Heffernan found O'Toole in the shadow of the goalposts and Hollymount's Michael Jennings was punished for holding. O'Toole struck the penalty himself, and although it opened a three point gap in what was previously a tight game - 0-6 each at half-time - there was still a lot of hard work to be done.
Noel Stagg epitomised Hollymount's never-say-die attitude when his mazy run minutes later ended with a fantastic save from Brendan Tierney who managed to deflect Stagg's vicious shot over the bar.
Garrymore's three point lead was restored on 42 minutes with a Martin Lynskey free, before points by P.J. Coen and Noel Stagg closed the gap to just the single point.
Despite the prevailing breeze Lynskey converted another superb free to bring his personal tally to four.
In what was a highly competitive game, six players entered referee Sean Mac Eil's book and the Knockmore official did extremely well to prevent this derby match spill into an event more at home in Caesar's Palace.
A point by Hollymount substitute Dean Molloy left the bare minimum between the sides once again, but it was O'Toole with another vital score on 55 minutes, who set up an exciting last five minutes.
Hollymount piled on the pressure and numerous attempts on goal almost secured maximum points for the visitors, none more so than Noel Conneally's effort, virtually the last kick of the game, that flashed by Brendan Tierney's right hand post.
Best for Garrymore were Ger Hession, centre-half back Jimmy Heffernan, Michael Coleman, who won oceans of possession for Garrymore in midfield, Gary O'Toole and target man Danny McHugh.
Ray Conneally, Michael Jennings - the scorer of three excellent first half points -, Noel Conneally and Noel Stagg were to the fore for the losers.

McMenamon points Burrishole in right direction
Burishoole 0-14 Crossmolina 2-7 County midfielder Colm McManamon was the differnce between these two sides, his seven points from play allowing Burishoole to hold on by the bare minimum in a keenly contested League tie played in Newport.
McManamon established a three point lead for Burishoole in the first five minutes, before Johnny Leonard finally got the visitors off the mark with a point from an acute angle.
Two points by Neil Chambers and one each from Noel Conroy and McManamon restored the home sides advantage, but it was Leonard who was on the mark once again, to keep Burishoole in their sight and P.J. Loftus' goal left only the one point between the sides at the break. Burishoole 0-9, Crossmolina 1-5.
Noel McManmon had the chance to kill off the Crossmolina challenge in the second half but his penalty attempt was placed much too close to Crossmolina custodian Declan Hughes. Another P.J. Loftus goal tightened proceedings once again, but the sharp shooting of McManamon secured the points for Burishoole.
