In order to facilitate the growing demand for advertising space in the Connaught Telegraph we have had two new phone lines installed so that customers will get through to us without delay.

This brings to five the number of lines on which we can be contacted as well of course as our FAX and e-mail facilities.

All of the phone lines are hunting so if one is engaged a call will automatically be transferred to another.

CUILMORE SCHOOL REUNIO

N The Cuilmore, Newport national school re-union will be held in the Castlecourt Hotel, Westport on June 21. All the profits from the function will go towards the provision of a new room at the school. Tickets are available at £10 each from John Keane on 098-41708.

PHEASANT TIMES

Motorists and walkers in Castlebar have observed a cock pheasant virtually one hundred yards from the town centre. The bird, which cannot be killed at this time of year, was seen crossing the road on several occasions.

SWINFORD SCHOOL CELEBRATION

A special function will be held in Julian's of Midfield, Swinford on Friday August 2 to celebrate the 50 anniversary of the founding of Scoil Muire agus Padraig, Swinford. All part pupils are invited to attend and those who have not been contacted by June 18 should get in touch with the organising committee through Michael Campbell on 094-51481.

CATERING AWARD

The Irish Heart Foundation have awarded the Happy Heart Healthy Eating symbol to the Mayo General Hospital, Castlebar -- the first hospital in the Western Health Board region to receive such an accolade. It was awarded in recognition of healthy catering by Campbell's Catering at the hospital who cater for up to 200 staff daily. It recognises the commitment and hard work of Mayo General Hospital, particularly Keith Judd, catering manager and Anne Considine, deputy catering manager, for ensuring that the food and menus in each canteen meet the healthy eating guidelines as set out by the Irish Heart Foundation and the Department of Health.

SHRINE MASS

Mass will be celebrated at Carrabawn Shrine, Swinford on Monday evening at 9 pm. All are welcome to attend the ceremony.
