'I'll live in Mayo if elected'
says Beverly Cooper Flynn
Beverly Cooper Flynn, the Castlebar Fianna Fail nominee to contest the next General Election, has vowed to return to live in Mayo if elected to the Dail.
Ms. Cooper-Flynn, who is living and working in Dublin, was responding to comments made by Fianna Fail national executive member, Frank Chambers. The Newport-based councillor said that all Fianna Fail candidates for the next Dail should be living and working in their constituencies.
Meanwhile, informal approaches have been made to independent Belmullet councillor, Padraig Cosgrove, to stand for the National Party in the Mayo five seater at the next General Election.
However, Mr Cosgrove is unlikely to accept if a more concrete proposal is made. He told MWR's 'The Bottom Line' programme that he would keep his options open but at this stage he could not imagine himself on a National Party ticket.
He added: "I am keeping my options open as to whether I will stand as an independent."
Controversially, Mr. Cosgrove predicted that Fine Gael would win three out
of the five Mayo seats with Fianna Fail and the independents battling it out
for the other two Dail places.
