Record catch in Ballinrobe

Only two days into the season, Mr. David Healy of Hollymount, has made fishing history with a catch of nearly 14 lbs.
He caught the monster in the canal at Cong on Friday, when after a 30 minute wrestle, he landed the largest brown trout in the history of the area for many seasons.
The fish weighed in at thirteen and a half pounds in Martin Jennings store in Ballinrobe.
Mr. Healy has not yet decided what to do with his prize catch, but he is
contemplating framing it as the one that didn't get away!
