Clarke brothers on target
Castlebar Mitchels 0-8 Moy Davitts 2-13
Played in ideal conditions on Saturday evening last in Parke, Moy Davitts easily accounted for Castlebar Mitchels in this Intermediate League clash which saw the Clarke brothers Brendan and Pat collect 2-8 between them.Leading by 8 points to 5 points at half time a goal early in the second half by Brendan Clarke for Moy Davitts killed off whatever chance Mitchels had of making a comeback and Moy Davitts ran out the easy winners in the end by a comprehensive 11 points.
Maurice Tolan was a tower of strength at midfield for Moy Davitts, ably assisted by Gary Ruane, while upfront the Clarke brothers Pat and Brendan and full forward J. Kelly played some delightful football.
Best for the Mitchels were S. Devaney in goal while Owen Keane and Owen Shaughnessy did well in defence. Lofty Walshe was back to his best in midfield and Pat Ludden was the pick of the forwards.
Mulroe rescues Tubber
Ballintubber 0-9 Ballinrobe 1-6
Place kicker Noel Mulroe was Ballintubbers' saviour in this Welcome Inn
League (division 2) encounter at Clogher on Saturday evening, when he kicked
two long range points in injury time.
It was a hard-hitting clash and Ballintubber, far more composed than their
opponents, led by 0-6 to 0-3 at the interval.
Ballinrobe played with a greater sense of purpose after the restart but an
outfield superiority was not reflected in the scoring contest until the 60th
minute, following a Maurice Horan goal, after a well-judged deliver from the
left wing by Hugh Sheehan.
The locals, however, fought back resolutely and Noel Mulroe got the
requisite scores to balance the issue.
Noel Mulroe, the chief contributor to the scoreline, Vincent Keane,
P.J.Derrig, John Horan, Kevin Feehan, Noel Finnerty and James Horan were
prominent for Ballintubber.
Donal Costello, Maurice Horan, Adrian Flannery, Fergal Costello, who had to
retire because of an ankle injury, Peter Ford and Fergal o'loughlin did best
for Ballinrobe.
Swinford 2-6 Kilmeena 0-4
Swinford got back on the rails after a recent set back to win this game comfortably in the end.Billy McNicholas marshalled the backs with a fine game, while Sean Cunney was another key figure in the attacking force.

Mitchels back on track
Castlebar Mitchels 1-7 Hollymount 0-7
Conditions were perfect for football on Sunday when the Mitchels played some of their best football this year as they defeated Hollymount in the Senior League in a hard fought game played in Hollymount to pick up their first points in the league.Trailing by 4 points after 15 minutes the writing looked on the wall for Castlebar (having had seven wides) but with some great midfield play by Shane Fitzmaurice and also Aiden McNally and some lovely points by Keith Burke and Brian Kilkelly, the Mitchels came more into the game and at half time the scores were level at 0-4 apiece.
A great goal half way through the second half by Shane Fitzmaurice a movement which started in the Mitchel's full back line paved the way for a marvellous win.
Colin Dawson again had one of his sound games in goal while all of the defence played very solidly.
Fitzmaurice was a tower of strength at midfield while he was ably assisted by Aiden McNally who scored two delightful points while upfront Reilly, Burke and Jimmy Kelly played some delightful football.
Knockmore 0-13 Ballaghadereen 1-9
This game marked the return of Peter Butler after a long lay-off with injury and he contributed to a rathe fortunate single point victory for the Knockmore men who left it very late.A first half goal from Tom Morgan gave Ballaghadereen the early initiative and they led by two points at the.
Some good points from Padraig Brogan sparked a late Knockmore revival and the vital points came from Kevin Staunton and Declan Sweeney.
Kiltane killer goals
Kiltane 4-11 Ballina 2-7
Liam McHale picked up a hand injury in this clash in Bangor where the Stephenites suffered one of their biggest defeats at the hands of a very slick local side.Kiltane set the foundations with three early goals and Ballina were always struggling after that.
Sean Carey helped himself to two goals for Kiltane who were well on top of matters despite Ballina's determined efforts to retrieve the situation int he second half.
Crossmolina goal-glut
Crossmolina 4-5 Balla 1-12
