LOCAL FOOTBALL STARLETS IN 'SEMI'

Kiltimagh have qualified for the county under-16 league semi-final after scoring an impressive 2-8 to 1-7 win over Parke/Keelogues. The budding Kiltimagh stars played very attractive football and took their scores in fine style. They play Balla in the semi-final next month. Best of luck in the 'semi,' lads.

ANGLING CLUB DISCO

Kiltimagh Angling Club are holding a monster disco in the Cill Aodáin Hotel on Sunday night, June 2. There will be a free raffle on the night for a Knock/London return flight for two.

CONTACT NEWS

A very enjoyable Contact social was held in the Raftery Room, Kiltimagh. Music was provided by the Melody Man and Ted O'Keeffe and Maggie Reilly sang a number of songs. Recitations were delivered by Margaret Dunleavy and Michael Murtagh.The winners in the raffle were James Corcoran, Alan Skelton and Margaret Dunlealy.

HISTORICAL MEETING

Kiltimagh Historical Society are holding their annual general meeting in the Blue Room (Walsh's) on Monday night next, May 27, at 9 p.m. All are welcome.

MINI MARATHON

Local girl Helen O'Reilly will be taking part in the Dublin 10 kilometres mini marathon on June 9. Sponsorship cards are located in businesses around town and your support would be appreciated.

PREMISES WANTED

The Department of Social Welfare provide funding for community development resource projects in areas experiencing social and economic disadvantage. These projects provide a range of supports, development opportunities and services to community groups and individuals within their area. Premises are now required for rent in Kiltimagh for a community development project. The premises should have a minimum lease of 2 years 11 months, with a shopfront, and preferably have a garden at the rear. The premises should be ready for occupation and have public access. A kitchen, toilet and a minimum of two meeting rooms on the ground floor is necessary.

A brief description of your premises should be included in your application which should be sent to Kiltimagh and District Community Development Project, Kiltimagh Post Office before Monday, May 26.

FUN PARK HOURS

The Tír na nOg Fun Park is open daily from Monday to Friday (4 to 7 p.m.) And Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. Admission is 50p per child daily. Annual family membership is £20.

SENIOR LEAGUE

Kiltimagh footballers take on neighbours Balla in an important Mayo senior league (Division 1) match at Gilmartin Park on Saturday evening next. This evening (Wednesday), May 22, Kiltimagh play Davitts in a senior football tournament in Garrymore at 8 p.m.

UNDER-12s WIN

In their opening of Division 3 of the county league, Kiltimagh under-12s had a 5-10 to 2-8 victory away to Ballyhaunis.

AT LISTOWEL WRITERS WEEK

Local writer James Corcoran attended the annual writers week in Listowel where he met the former Taoiseach, Charles Haughey, and such well known writers as Bryan McMahon, John B. Keane, Paddy Rush and Cathriona O'Connor. Paddy recited some of his poems, including "Surrendering to the healing power of God," "A reason for life" and "Love and life" at a number of venues and got a great reception.

LOUGH DERG

A day trip to Lough Derg from Kiltimagh will take place on Monday next, May 27. Anyone interested in travelling should contact Nancy at 094-81350.

BEREAVEMENT

Sympathy is tendered to Phil Creaby, Thomas Street, on the death of her father, Michael Brogan, Tuam.
