KENNY'S COMING OF AGE IN DAIL

A Gala celebration function will be staged on Friday November 21 to mark the occasion of Tourism and Trade Minister Enda Kenny being twenty-one years in Dail Eireann.

The Minister was first elected to the Oireachtas on Friday November 15, 1975 to take the seat held by his later father Henry Kenny.

The function will be held in the Travellers Friend Hotel and it is expected that over 400 people will be in attendance on the night.

Several former Taoisigh have been invited to attend the function which will be a complete sell- out. Tickets are available from John McHugh, Dentist, Station Road, Castlebar 094-22317.

Meanwhile, Minister Kenny will host a meeting of the General Assembly of the European Travel Commission in Ashford castle over the three day period commencing on October 20.

ACCOMMODATION FOR SENSES ARTISTS

The organisers of the Celebration of the Senses festival which will be staged in Castlebar on the October Bank Holiday are seeking accommodation for the various international artists who will be flocking into the town for this prestigious event.

Families willing to put up some of the artists should contact Bridget Horkan, c/o Heneghan's Guesthouse, Newtown.

Meanwhile the organisers are also seeking volunteers to help on for the weekend.

KILLASSER-LONDON REUNION FUNCTION

The annual Killasser - London reunion dance will be held in St. Gabriel's Parish centre, London on Saturday October 26. As usual a great evenings entertainment is assured and music will be supplied by Mid-West Country, led by Bohola man Jim McNicholas.

St. Gabriel's Centre is situated in Hatchard Road N19, just off Holloway Road. Hatchard Road is a continuation of Marlborough Road N19, ten minutes walk from Archway Tube Station, buses 271, 17 & 43 pass by Marlborough Road.

All people from Killasser, Swinford, Foxford, Aclare and Bohola and surrounding areas are welcome to attend.

CLAREMORRIS GARDA STATION EXTENSION

Government Chief Whip Jim Higgins has been informed that the Department of Justice propose to proceed with the extension and refurbishment of Claremorris Garda Station. a sketch scheme of work has been approved and the Department has asked the Office of Public Works to process the purchase of a plot of land adjacent to the station. The additional ground is to be used for the new addition and for improved access..

Minister Higgins said: "The Claremorris station serves a large area and houses 24 Gardai of all ranks. I will be making every effort to ensure that work on this project is expedited."

BLAZING SADDLES FOR AFRICA

Blazing Saddles Ireland will stage an African night at the Travellers Friend Hotel, Castlebar tonight (Wednesday) as a fund raiser for Brendan Heneghan who has been selected to take part in the National Council for the Blind's South African Cycle Challenge '96.

Brendan has been chosen from over 525 applicants who applied for a place in the 140 member cycling team.

Brendan must raise £3,250 to participate as well as training for the cycling challenge.

Music for tonight's function will be provided by Change and this will be followed by a disco
