CONNAUGHT TELEGRAPH APPOINTMENTS

Mr. Tom Kelly has been appointed Deputy Editor of the Connaught Telegraph. Aged 33 he has been on the editorial staff of the newspaper for the past 15 years.

His new role will be to further develop the news and sports content of your brightest weekly read in the region .

Mr. Kelly, an award winning sports writer, is son of Sean and Teresa Kelly, Pontoon Drive, Castlebar. Married to Gina, a native of Ballyhaunis, Tom was educated at St. Patrick's National School and St. Gerald's College, Castlebar.

Recently Tom compiled a history of Mayo Soccer which will be published in book form in the near future. He was also editor of the Connaught Telegraph commemorative supplement which was published in April.


Reporter Deirdre Kelly (20) has been appointed West Mayo Correspondent. A native of Killaturley, Swinford she was educated at Scoil Mhuire agus Padraig, Swinford and at the School of Journalism, Rathmines.

Daughter of Paddy and Kathleen Kelly, she has been on the news staff of the Telegraph for the past twelve months.


Helen Casey (20) from Carnacon, Ballyglass has joined the staff of the Connaught Telegraph where she will work with Bernard Hughes in the advertising department.

Daughter of Jim and Anne Casey, Helen was educated at Carnacon national school, Balla Secondary School and the College of Secretarial and Computer Studies, Claremorris.

Helen is a member of the Carnacon ladies football club. A keen player she has several medals to her credit.
