Chamber honour former president with customer care award
Castlebar Chamber of Commerce have launched a memorial award in honour of former president the late, Mr. P.J. Hennelly.
The Customer Care and Service Memorial Award will be presented monthly to the nomination, who in the views of the adjudicators, best epitomises an employer or employee who goes over and above the call of duty in their dealings with customers.
The first nominations are now being accepted for November and they will be presented each month through to May with a special award to the overall annual winner. The promotion is being run by Castlebar Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Connaught Telegraph and the Travellers Friend Hotel & Theatre.
Chamber president, Mr. Frank Greene said the idea of the memorial was to commemorate the great work that Mr. Hennelly did when he headed up the chamber.
Mr. Greene said: "In his two year term as president Mr. Hennelly brought the Chamber to new heights through his personal involvement in every project.
"He showed unrelenting enthusiasm for every aspect of the Chamber work and it is only right that we should remember him in this way.
"We feel that a customer care and service memorial award is the right way of doing this. We would encourage customers to nominate the employer/employee who in their opinion excelled in customer service and care."
Mr. Tom Gillespie, Editor, Connaught Telegraph welcomed the launching of the memorial award in honour of his late colleague, P.J. Hennelly.
He said: "This is a magnificent gesture by the Chamber. It is only right and fitting that P.J's memory should be honoured in this way."
Mr. Pat Jennings of the Travellers Friend Hotel & Theatre said they were delighted to be sponsors of the awards.
He explained that the nomination forms were available from the Chamber of Commerce Office at Linenhall Street, Castlebar (094-24845) or from any Chamber member.
The closing date for receipt of nominations for November is the 21st.
