RTC RAG WEEK IN CASTLEBAR
THE Students Union at the Castlebar RTC Campus are busy preparing for Rag Week, which will run from February 16-20.Among the proposed activities are a Treasure Hunt, Slave Auction, Iron Stomach, Bar Fly, Sumo Wrestling and a Mystery Tour. Pubs all around Castlebar are participating in the fun and students hope to have a good time. Local businesses and shops have supported us in the form of spot prizes and money.
Listen out for the Rag Report on Johnny Oosten's show on CRC each day around 2.30. Your host will be Cathal Donnelly.
Proceeds from Rag Week will go to the Cat Scan Appeal and the Sacred Heart Home.
Most activities are open for the public to attend and support.

MAYO PERSON PRESENTATIONS
THE presentation to Kevin Bourke, Mayo Person of the Year takes place at the Burlington Hotel, Dublin on Friday night as will the Meitheal Award to the St. Brid's-Wheatfield project.The St. Brid's nomination was entered by the Mayo Camcorder Club who videoed the three day project to transform an area at the school into a unique play area with items constructed by the prisoners in Whealfield Prison.

NEW YORK HONOUR FOR JOHN MAUGHAN
Mayo All-Ireland team manager, John Maughan has been voted' Mayo Man of the Year' by the Mayo Society in New York while Foxford born Maureen O'Dea-Filip has been selected as the 'Mayo Woman of the Year' by the Society.Both will be honoured at the 118th annual St. Patrick's Ball at the Crystal Palace, Astoria, Queens on Friday March 7.
BALLINA COULD LOSE DAIL SEAT
The President of Ballina Chamber of Commerce, Oliver Rouse has predicted that the town could be without a Dail Deputy after the next General Election.The chamber are pressing for the go-ahead for several schemes, which they say are vital for the development of the town. See full report on page 5.
RHODE ISLAND MEETING ON APC JOBS FOR CASTLEBAR
Tourism and Trade Minister Enda Kenny will attend a breakfast meeting today with executives of the American Power Conversion (APC), at the company's American headquarters at Rhode Island.Mr. Kenny is paying a courtesy call to APC to reaffirm APC's welcome to Castlebar where they are about to set up 245 new jobs. The Minister will meet with Mr. Ed Mulhalla, executive vice president of APC to inform him that plans are progressing and that the people of Castlebar appreciated the company's decision to go ahead with its plans top establish in Castlebar.
Minister Kenny said: "Everything is now on stream so that the base can open up at the earliest possible date.
"The planning permission for the change of use of the factory space at Breaffy Road is currently being processed by Mayo County Council."
RED RIBBON DAY
Castlebar Community Radio will join forces with over 500 other stations across Europe on this Friday, Valentines Day in the biggest ever community awareness campaign in relation to AIDS.The project is being organised by C.S.V. Media, Europe.
Valentines Day is also International AIDS Day which will be marked by the sale of red ribbons which are available from CRC.
Each day there will be special programmes on CRC with educational information and special guests.
R na G QUIZ
Students from Coliste Rís, Westport and Davitt College, Castlebar can be heard on Raidió na Gaeltachta on Saturday at 12.10 pm where they compete in the first round of Tráth na gCeist, the national post-primary schools' quiz hosted by Seán Bán Breathnach, with a repeat broadcast on Sunday at 4.30 pmThe overall winning school will receive £5,000 worth of computer equipment, sponsored by Foinse.
FOXFORD MEETINGS
The annual general meeting of the Foxford Goat Fair will take place in the Foxford Woollen Mills Visitors Centre on Monday night at 8 pm All committee members should attend.And a meeting will be held at the same venue, on the same date at 9.30 pm to consider the future of the IRD in Foxford and to discuss possible funding for the organisation. All are welcome.
CORR na MONA SAWMILLS REPORT
RTE One's "Léargas" programme on Tuesday night (7.30 pm) Looks at the impact of forestry. Reporter Caoimhe Nic Cába visits Corr na Mona where over 200 people are employed directly or indirectly in the local sawmill.LOURDES PILGRIMAGE
The annual Knock-Lourdes pilgrimage from the Archdiocese of Tuam, being organised by Archbishop Michael Neary, will take place from July 21 to 26.As a result of the enthusiasm shown last year by young people, it is hoped to have a special youth pilgrimage, as part of the overall group.
To discuss details of this there will be a meeting in the Dalton hotel, Claremorris on this Saturday at 3 pm
It is hoped to have as many young people as possible from the Archdiocese
take part in the pilgrimage.
