Heads you win for Mayomen!

Fundraising for cancer victims has gone to the head of six young Mayomen! Eamon Smith, Westport , Peter McCann Brendan McCormick, Eamon Mongey, Mark Gaffney and Pat Tierney, all Castlebar, have agreed to undertake a sponsored head save in aid of the Mayo/Roscommon Hospice Foundation.

It will take place in McGoldrick's's Bar, Castlebar, on Friday, April 4th, at 9.00p.m.

In the meantime, they are raising funds through the circulation of sponsorship cards and members of the public are asked to be generois in their support of the venture.

Farm pollution survey at Lough Mask

A farm pollution survey is taking place in the Lough Mask catchment on Tuesday next, February 25th.

It is hoped all farmers will co-operate with the initiative to maintain the existing high quality of Lough Mask and to safeguard its future.

The survey, conducted by the Environmental Protection Agency, is part of a phosphoris load reduction programme which is targetting all sectors in the catchment.

Soccer clubs to amalgamate?

Talks opened last night (Tuesday) between officials of Castlebar Celtic F.C. and Castlebar United F.C. with a view to amalgamating. The meeting was called by officers of Celtic following their annual general meting.
