Stephen Ring, signed by Ballyglass from Claremorris, produced an
impressive debut performance for the South Mayo side in their Mayo F.A. Cup
victory over Glenhest Rovers.
But it was Kevin Connolly who stole the show with two goals for Ballyglass.
The former Mountgable Celtic star opened their account early following a
pinpoint cross by Martin Vahey.
Justin Keady increased the margin from the penalty spot after Ring had
been impeded.
Then Connolly made it 3-0 before the break.
David Jordan pulled a goal back for Glenhest before Mark Diskin completed
the Ballyglass rout.
Cuffe shows Manulla the way

Barry Cuffe inspired Manulla to victory over Killala in a hard-fought Mayo
F.A. Cup clash at the Asahi Grounds.
His first half strike gave the Central Mayo side a vital edge in the match.
Gerry Lohan wrapped up the win with the side's second goal twenty minutes from the end.
Manulla also afforded the luxury of missing a penalty in the second half.

Castlebar United came from behind before scoring a deserved Mayo F.A. Cup
victory over Ballina United at Moneen on Sunday.
Steve Morrell caught the home side on the hop with an early strike.
But Castlebar hit back before half-time with an equaliser from former
Charlestown Athletic star Eddie Conroy on his debut.
A converted penalty by Joe Redmond early in the second half put Castlebar
in command.
Danny McEllin made it 3-1 before John Downey reduced the gap for Ballina
with his side's second goal.
All hopes of a Ballina recovery were extinguished by a second Joe Redmond
goal before the end.
Goalkeeper turned poacher

Stuart Kearney has turned from goalkeeper to goalpoacher.
The Claremorris ace was selected for outfield duties on Sunday by his
brother, Johnny, caretaker manager of the Claremorris side.
He responded in style to his new challenge by scoring his side's opening
goal in the Mayo F.A. Cup win over Newport Town.
Maurice Walsh was the side's other scorer, while J. O'Donnell was on the
mark for Newport.
No problem for Gary Grant

Gary Grant struck a hat-trick on the opening day of the season for Ballina
Rovers in their landslide Mayo F.A. Cup triumph over Conn Rangers B.
Ian Clarke scored twice to add to the Rangers agony.
The other Ballina Rovers marksmen were John Moyles, Clive Helly and Robert
McLoughlin.
Rovers are set to sign George Armstrong and Tony Canavan from Ballina Town
in the coming weeks.

United were given a hard time by Straide & Foxford United B
before finally emerging victorious in Sunday's Mayo F.A. Cup clash.
In fact, it was an own goal by Straide & Foxford's John Kelly which
ensured them of a place in the next round.
John McKenna, who scored twice, was Westport's best player.
The Straide & Foxford scorers were G. Bourke and S. Gallagher.

comfortable victory over Bangor Hibs at Belmullet
on Sunday.
A hat-trick by Greg Flynn was the highlight of Ballyheane's performance.
Anthony Skeffington and Kieran Lally were Ballyheane's other sharp-shooters.

Mayo F.A. Cup win over Claremorris B at Belleek on Sunday.

the misery for Claremorris with further goals for Rovers.
