Catherine blooms at Rose finals

Twenty-two year old Catherine Geraghty from Glenisland, Castlebar will be biding to become this year's Rose of Tralee after scooping the Mayo Rose title on Friday night.
Nine contestants took part in the finals which were run in conjunction with Westport Lions Club at Hotel Westport.
Catherine, who is employed as a receptionist at the Berry Print Group in Westport, now goes forward to represent Mayo at the Galway finals of the Rose of Tralee in July.
Catherine said she hoped she would be representing Mayo at the Kerry Festival in September.
She said: "The Rose of Tralee event is recognised internationally and I am looking forward to taking part in the next heats and hopefully I will qualify for the finals proper in Tralee."
Other Roses to take part in the county finals include Deirdre Moran, Cong, Sinead Cathryn Freeman, Kilkelly, Jennifer Jordan, Castlebar, Maeve Gough, Westport, Dawn Carey, Mulranny, Sinead Corrigan, Achill, Lorraine O'Malley, Newport and Caroline Healy, Belmullet.
36-lb salmon landed off Achill
A massive 36 pound salmon will en up in an Achill restaurant ...... but not on the menu.
The 'monster' was netted by boatman, Michael Connaghan in the sea off Achill on Monday. The manager of the Achill Co-Op, Brendan Murray said:
"It's definitely the biggest salmon I have ever seen.
"A local restaurant has expressed an interest in buying it and mounting it for display."
