Live entertainment is one of the hallmarks of the week's events, music fills the streets varying from Traditional, Country & Western, Rock & Roll and Samba.

Travel back in a time capsule midweek and watch in awe as the Ballina community return to bygone days. Dress up in your grandparents clothes like the many who throng the streets amid the hustle of penny farthing bicycles and vintage cars, and experience the unique atmosphere of an Irish town in the eighteenth century.

This festival is one of the few in the County which provides a complete array of events for children within the festival programme. Events include art workshops and demonstrations, computer challenges, an array of competitions, week long youth art exhibitions and literary awards, etc, also open to adults. The highlight of the children's programme is undoubtedly the spectacular teddy bear's picnic where children and their parents enjoy an afternoon of free entertainment. A surprise is in store as always when up on 30,000 people view the internationally acclaimed festival pageant production. The production focuses in on a particular theme that is uniquely Mayo in character. It takes place on the banks of the River Moy between the twin bridges with St Muredach's Cathedral as a backdrop - a perfect amphitheatre setting for the pageant and fireworks. Added to all this, street entertainment, Horse racing, Western evening, Festival rag, Busking, Art and Photographic Exhibitions, River Frolics etc. provide a cocktail that makes Ballina the place to be in July.
