Belcarra (Ballycarra) - in gaelic Baile na Cora ‘the townland of the weir’ - a pleasant and picturesque village in Central Mayo. A beautifully restored cottage, known as ‘The Eviction Cottage’, scene of the last (19th century) eviction in Belcarra by landlord’s agents, is today the local Belcarra Heritage Centre.
