Self-catering (rental) accommodation in
Old Deanery Holiday Cottages
Killala, County Mayo, Ireland
Location
The Old Deanery Holiday Cottages proudly stand in the centre of the enchanting village of Killala. Cradled 'neath the shadow of Killala's 12th Century Round Tower, on the historic Deanery site, it commands a wide and panoramic view of "Killala's Broad Bay" and off-shore Bartragh Island. It was from the roof of the Old Deanery that the French landing of 1798 was first sighted.
The surrounding countryside is caressed with mountains, lakes and rivers all set against the ever present Atlantic Ocean. From such scenery the artist could hardly fail to find inspiration and feeling, particularly from such areas as Downpatrick Head, Pontoon (where the two lakes meet) and lovely Lacken strand, all within an easy reach of Killala.
