Thousands of people converge on Murrisk each year to climb Croagh Patrick, Ireland's 'holy mountain', but there are numerous other attractions and activities for visitors to this charming little village. If the arduous climb of Croagh Patrick hasn't tired you out completely, you might like to enjoy further scenic walks on the nearby Mweelrea mountains or the Sheefrey hills.
Make Murrisk your base for some of the most amazing scenic drives around Mayo, Galway and Connemara. In one direction there is Westport, Achill, Belmullet and the North Mayo coastline, while a day trip in the other direction will take you to Doolough, Leenane, Connemara and beyond.
Endless miles of beautiful beaches caress the shoreline here, including the Blue Flag beach at nearby Bertra. Only a few minutes drive away is Carrowniskey beach, one of the best surf spots on the west coast of Ireland.
