Newport

Newport nestles on the shore of Clew Bay which is famous for its 365 Islands. Newport has the distinction of the Black Oak River flowing through its centre and is a pleasant seaside resort and part of an attractive and unspoiled coastline.

Newport Historical Tour

A guided historical tour is provided each Friday evening during July and August in Newport, conducted by Brian Hoban, Local Historian & Failte Ireland Approved Tour Guide. Meeting place for this tour is Hotel Newport, Main Street, Newport at 7pm sharp. Group tours may be arranged at other times by appointment.

Festival

The annual Grainne Uaile Festival takes place on the August Bank Holiday weekend in Newport and includes live music on streets, crafts display, barbecue on street, raft race, fancy dress and more.

Great Western Greenway

Newport is one of the start or finish points along the route of the new 'Great Western Greenway' - the longest off-road cycling/walking route in the country, which stretches from Wesport to Achill Island.
