Pontoon (Irish: Pont Abhann - "river point") is a famed angling destination for fishermen from many corners of the globe. Located on the shores of Loughs Conn & Cullen, Pontoon is only 5 minutes from the world renowned River Moy.

This beautiful lakeside village on the R310 regional road is only 5 mins drive from the town of Foxford, 20 mins drive from both Castlebar and Ballina and a mere 30 mins drive from Ireland West Airport Knock.
Pontoon is an ideal base for touring all corners of County Mayo, and is only an hour's drive from the cities of Galway and Sligo.
Pontoon Attractions
Pontoon is a very suitable retreat for lovers of the great outdoors. Touring, cycling and walking can all be enjoyed from a central base at Pontoon. There are a number of charming forest and lakeshore walks in the Pontoon region with a rich variety of flora and fauna along the way. The Foxford Way is an 86km walking route around County Mayo, part of which contours around Pontoon.
The Lough Conn Drive is a looped drive of approx 102km around majestic Lough Conn, with magnificent scenery and photographic opportunities.
Fishing in Pontoon
Loughs Conn and Lough Cullen are two large limestone lakes separated by a peninsula at Pontoon, with an outflow to the Moy. Lough Conn is a beautiful lake of some 14,000 acres, extending nine miles from north to south and varying in width from two to six miles. This great fishing lake, with its many bays and islands, enjoys a good run of spring salmon and an excellent run of grilse. Lough Cullen covers an area of over 2,000 acres and trout fishing begins there as early as mid-March.
Lough Cullen has a number of small sheltered beaches with the most popular one at Drummin Wood.
Golf
Pontoon is perfectly located for golf enthusiasts with a number of excellent links and parkland courses within 15 mins to 1 hours drive, including Enniscrone, Ballina, Swinford, Carne (Belmullet), Castlebar and Westport.
