The Mary Robinson Centre, Ireland’s first Presidential Library, will soon hold its second signature annual event, the International Human Rights Lecture, delivered this year by Graça Machel, a one-time freedom fighter in Mozambique turned human rights and equality activist.  Together with her husband, civil liberties icon Nelson Mandela, Machel was instrumental in founding The Elders.

Machel’s guest lecture at The Mary Robinson Centre will address equality and justice for all in our society, looking at issues in today’s world that adversely affect women and children, including climate change, political and social unrest and the current migrant crisis.  The lecture will be followed by a discussion between Graça Machel and Mary Robinson, facilitated by journalist Olivia O’Leary.

A founding member of The Elders, Graça Machel has worked tirelessly to support global health, child welfare and women’s rights and empowerment and has dedicated her life to improving lives, inspiring hope, and building a more just and equitable world.
