Downpatrick Head is one of the Signature Points on the Wild Atlantic Way in North Mayo and it is located between Ballycastle village and the archaeological site of Ceide Fields. It hosts the 2014 Spirit of Place, a new installation to commemorate the natural power and richly-layered historical tales of the site.

Mayo County Council reported almost 30,000 people have visited this installation in 2015. These figures have been reported from 1st January to 14th September by a footfall counter at the blowhole, called ‘Poll na Seantainne’ by locals.

Professor Travis Price and his architecture students from the Catholic University of Washington designed the Spirit of Place, which was completed in 2014 and entitled ‘The Crossing’.

Keem Bay is another Signature Point on the Wild Atlantic Way and here a new project will be completed, The Achill Skywalk, next summer.
