The Martin Donoghue Traditional Weekend

The inaugural Martin Donoghue Traditional Weekend will take place from Friday 2nd October to 4th October in Ballindine. This event is packed with music, workshops, sections and lecture.

On Friday night, after a lecture by Holly Geraghty about Martin Donoghue, there will be the official opening of the festival with Joe Byrne and Colman O Raghallaigh followed by a Traditional Youth Session in Ballindine Community Centre.

On Saturday morning workshops will take place in Ballindine National School featuring extraordinary tutors such as Colm Gannon (button accordion), Bernie Geraghty (whistle/flute), Holly Geraghty (harp), Ernestine Healy (concertina), Kelly Gannon (concertina), Angelina Carberry (banjo) and Fergal Scahill (fiddle).

On Saturday night all tutors of Martin Donoghue Festival and members of the Ballindine Branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann will perform at the festival concert in St.Joseph Church. It will be an exceptional night of Traditional music.

Session Trail will take place in local pubs on Friday and Saturday night.

On Sunday there will be the closing session.
