Over the last month Nuala Clarke (Irish) & Joseph Ostraff (American visiting artist) lead a very exciting project making a collaborative installation with eight schools from the North Mayo area.
The task for each student was to consider the importance of the river & make a house whether it was their own or imaginary. What the river means to them personally, what might be found in and around it, and who/what might be reliant on it. Watching the students at work we were moved by the excitement and insight each student brought, and the joy they felt at seeing their ideas become real art, reminded us all of why we love art too.
The Installation is open to the public on March 20th between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., at The Ballinglen Gallery, Main Street, Ballycastle, Co. Mayo.
Everyone is welcome to come along and see the beautiful work the children produced. Refreshments served.
The Draft Ballycastle Nature and Wildlife plan is now on display on the Mayo County Council Website http://www.mayococo.ie/heritage
