The second Cong Food Village Festival will run from Friday 2nd June to Monday 5th June 2017 in Cong in different venues.

The event has been named runner-up in the European Destination of Excellence (EDEN) and been named as fourth Best Foodie Destination in Ireland.

It celebrates the wonderful food culture of the Cong’s area supporting local farmers and producers.

The festival is fully packed with events which cater for foodlovers and all family alike.

On Friday night The Pig on Spit BBQ will kick off the festival.

On Saturday throughout the day there will be the Farmer’s Market where the stalls will be jammed full of cheese, vegetables, baked goods, honey, fish and much more.

The events of the day will be: Foraging Trail, Art of Bread Making, All Things Poitín, Cocktail & Mixology Master Class. Also, on the day, there will be three Cooking Demos with Silvia Fernandes, Paula Stakelum and Michael Crowe, all skilled and very well known chefs in Cong. The Demos will be located in the festival marquee.

The Golden Olive Céilí Mór & Social Dancing will finish up the day.

On Sunday the all day long Farmer’s Market will kick off the day. Joyce Country Sheepdog Displays, Art of Cake Making, My Nutrition Ireland, Cooking Demo with Aisling Butler, Ready-Steady-Cook with Jonathan Keane are the events of the day.

There will be also the Devour Bakery Baking Competition for Adults (non professionals) and Primary and Secondary School Students.

Children will join in special events catered for them such as Decorate Your Own Cupcake Party, Ginger Bread Making, Cabbage Competition and Pizza Making Class.

The Street Food Festival will end the festival. Cong will turn into a food paradise where meats, seafood, breads, pastries, sweets and ice creams will fill the air with the aroma of Connacht’s finest food.
