Irony

I yawned as I walked out the door to greet my first day as a freshman. "what kind of idiot is out at 7 to be at school at 8? I could walk to school in a half hour and burn off my breakfast at the same time."

I walked the mile towards Kirsten, my best friend Ann's older sister, Clarissa, a girl from the local public school, and Rich my crush from 6-8th grade. I was wondering how to explain to him that we could be friends again, and that I had a great boy-friend and was completely over him, which had taken me 879 days when I walked smack into "ANNIEEEEE!!!!

What are you doing out at 7? You don't have to be out till 7:55 you lucky eight grader!!"
" I wanted to see you off."
" Thanks, but I've got to have the talk with Rich. I cant stand another year of having him act so, so, ODD."
"OK, Junie. Good luck."
"Oh, lord, there goes Rich. I'd better start talking before Clarissa-The-Pris and Kirsten show up."
In unison we said, "BYE, LUCK with the new teachers. Miss ya!" We usually talked in unison.

I jogged thirty feet. "Rich!!!!! HI!!! OVER HEEEEEREEEEE!!!!!!"
"HI JUNIE!" he shouted.
"Rich, I've got to talk to you, about last year, and this is really hard to say, so don't you dare laugh..."
"Junewillyougooutwithme?"
"Excuse me????"
"WILL-YOU-GO-OUT-WITH-ME? I've had a crush on you since sixth grade and I'm sorry I acted so queer last year but the guys were..."
"SHUT UP!!!!" Rich looked stunned. "Rich, I never thought I'd say this, but I'm 400% over you and I've got a boy friend, his name is Eric and it's a match made in heaven...."

Suddenly Clarissa walked up, singing "Ironic" "And isn't it ironic, don't you think, a little too Ironic..." And yeah, I really do think. Don't you love irony?
