The 2019 Croagh Patrick National Pilgrimage will take place on Sunday 28th July.

Masses will be celebrated from 8.00am to 2.00pm every hour in the old church on the top of Croagh Patrick, the Holy Mountain. Pilgrims can make their confession on the summit continuously from 7.30am to 2.00pm.

There are three pilgrimage stations on the way to the summit of Croagh Patrick:

First Station (Leacht Benáin): Base of the Mountain ▪ Walk 7 times around the mound of stones while saying: 7 Our Fathers, 7 Hail Marys, 1 Creed. Second Station: The Summit ▪ Kneel and say: 7 Our Fathers, 7 Hail Marys, 1 Creed

▪ Pray near the chapel for the Pope's intentions.

▪ Walk 15 times around the chapel while saying: 15 Our Fathers, 15 Hail Marys

▪ Walk 7 times around Leaba Phádraig (Patrick's Bed) saying: 7 Our Fathers, 7 Hail Marys, 1 Creed. Third Station: Roilig Mhuire ▪ Walk 7 times around each mound of stones saying: 7 Our Fathers, 7 Hail Marys, 1 Creed.

▪ Walk 7 times around the whole enclosure of Roilig Mhuire praying.

Pilgrims must be prepared and remember this is a very challenging ascent, they must be properly dressed, have proper footwear and walking sticks and bring snacks and drinks. Also they must be responsible for themselves and other people and remind the ascent is a climbing of the Holy Mountain too.

Mayo Mountain Rescue and some other mountain rescue teams will dispatch volunteers and be on duty on the day. They will be supported by Civil Defense, Order of Malta, AnGarda Siochana and Murrisk Community. Air Corp will have a helicopter on standby at Knock Airport.

On Garland Friday, Friday 26th July, there will be a Mass on the summit of the mountain at 10.00 am and in Murrisk car park at 7.30 pm in St. Patrick’s Oratory.
