Ballina, the Salmon Capital of Ireland, hosts this very popular and family friendly festival with over 200,000 visitors each year.

This years the event runs from Sunday 9th July to Sunday 16th July.

The 2017 Ballina Salmon Festival includes the Heritage Day, where visitors can see craftspeople display their trades of tinsmiths, thatching, butter making, woodturning and blacksmithing.

The Festival also offers different daily programmes of events and workshops especially for children, while all over the week delicious food stalls and traditional music make a fantastic atmosphere. There will be also river-based events like fishing competitions and raft races.

New this year is the Car Treasure Hunt on Pearse Street.

The Busking Competition, dedicated to solo performers and bands/groups of all ages, will be back this year in town centre along with the Ballina Salmon Festival Junior Literary Awards dedicated to children.

Also the Ballina Athletic Club Ballina 10k run / walk takes place as part of the Ballina Salmon Festival Programme of events.

On Sunday the Festival ends with the favourite for kids Teddy Bears Picnic, the famous Mardi Gras and the amazing fireworks display overlooking the River Moy.
