The 2017 Claremorris Open Exhibition will take place in Claremorris from 16th September to 30th September.

Over the years Claremorris, a small town in the heart of Mayo located between the old art world of continental Europe and the new of America, has produced a high-quality exhibition of contemporary art and this is the uniqueness of the Claremorris Open Exhibition.

The adjudicator will be Tom Morton, a writer, independent curator, and Contributing Editor of frieze magazine. His exhibitions include: ‘Apparat’ at The Ballroom Marfa, Texas; ‘Panda Sex’ at State of Concept, Athens; ‘British British Polish Polish’ at CSW Ujazdowski Castle, Warsaw; and ‘British Art Show 7: In the Days of the Comet’ (Hayward Gallery, London and touring, co-curated with Lisa Le Feuvre).

There will be artists from all over Ireland, the Uk and further afield, selected with works in painting, print, photography, sculpture, installation, video, light, sound, performance and multi media.

Works will be located in gallery spaces, public spaces and different venues in Claremorris. Exterior walls, interior spaces and windows for the event have been donated by some of the businesses in Claremorris.
