Mayo’s incredible biodiversity is a treasure to preserve; many interesting and exciting species live here including the smallest insects, unique wildlife and rarest Irish plants.

Ballycroy National Park

Ballycroy National Park is celebrating the 2018 Biodiversity Week with a lot of exciting free events such as dark sky walks, storytelling, coastal tours and bat walks.

All the events will take place at Ballycroy Visitor Centre, Mulranny and Westport from Tuesday 22nd May to Sunday 27th May.

Belcarra

Bat Conservation Ireland and the village of Belcarra will celebrate the 2018 National Biodiversity Week (19-27 May) with a free Bat Walk on Saturday 19th May from 9.30 pm to 11.00 pm.

The meeting point will be at Guesdian Graveyard near the gates of Ballinafad House.

Walking through local habitats participants will learn more about the variety of bat species that live here and other wildlife.

All are welcome. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Few sections of the walk may not be accessible to wheelchairs or buggies.

Clogher Heritage Centre

Clogher Heritage Centre is celebrating the National Biodiversity Week with relaxing and interesting walks in Nature.

On Monday 21st May there will be the “Mindful Walking in Nature”, an ideal opportunity to get away from the busy modern life and unwind. Participants will meet at the Centre at 11.00 am.

On Tuesday 22nd May and Thursday 24th May there will be the “Family Friendly Guided Nature Walk” on Clogher Bog Loop Walk. Meeting point is at the Centre at 2.00 pm. Participants will explore the flora of Fen, Bogland and hedgerows and learn more about these Mayo's peculiar habitats.
