This year the Ballinrobe’s popular Queen of the Lakes Festival will take place from Friday 30th June to Sunday 2nd July.

The Queen tradition started almost 30 years ago when the Queen of the Mask contest was held. Contestants will take part from all around the Lake District.

The winning girl will go forward to next year’s Rose of Mayo contest. The winner in the Rose of Mayo takes part in the Rose of Tralee.

The selection contest has always attracted huge crowds.

The event is packed with activities and fun and caters for all the family.

Here is the programme:

Friday 30th June:

• “Queen of the Lakes” heats for the Rose of Tralee at Walkenburg Hotel.

Saturday 1st July:

• Country Music Party, on Abbey Street, music by Marty Mone, “Hit the Diffy”.
• Rodeo Bull on the day.

Sunday 2nd July:

• Family Street Party on Main Street with “Neil Diamond Experience”
