Christmas is coming and Mayo’s towns and villages are getting ready to celebrate . Many Christmas Fairs and Markets will bring a truly festive atmosphere along the streets decorated with Christmas lights .

Stalls will be fully packed with ideal gifts to buy for everyone in the family. Knitwear, jewellery, stone craft, traditional crafts and artisan foods and more will be on sale.

Here there is a list of the most popular Christmas markets where it is possible to shop and have fun while doing it.

Ballina

The Mistletoe Market and Frosty Ale Fest will take place on Saturday 9th December in the Military Quarter, off Pearse Street and beside the Market Square from 12pm to 7pm.

It is a European Style Market where he decorated stalls will showcase all their best local traditional crafts and artisan foods. It will be a feast for the senses!

There will be carol singers, festive tunes and Santa will wait children in his Grotto.

New this year is the Frosty Ale Fest. The event will introduce visitors to the flavours of the craft beer made in Mayo and surrounds.

Foxford

Foxford Crafts Fair is one of the biggest and well known Christmas markets in Mayo. It will take place from Friday 1st December to Sunday 3rd December at The Foxford Sports and Leisure Centre beside Foxford Wollen Mills.

This eclectic fair will showcase a huge selection of Irish arts and craft including slate craft, bog oak, wood craft, fabrics crafts, pottery, candles, jewellery, seasonal foods, ironworks, Christmas decorations, paintings and much more.

Ballycastle

Ballycastle Christmas Fair will take place on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th November in Ballycastle Resource Centre. There will be a large array of crafts and tempting fare on offer.

Swinford

The 2017 Swinford’s Annual Christmas Market will take place on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd  December in Swinford Cultural Centre and Meeting Rooms from 9:30am to 3pm.

The stalls will be fully packed with ceramics, jewellery and decorations, greetings cards, wooden ornaments, winter woollies,home made cakes and jams.

There will be also a Christmas decoration workshops for children. The local choir will warm up the hearts with Christmas carols, while Santa and his Deer will come along handing out sweets to the little ones.
