Situated on the N5 between Castlebar and Swinford, Ballyvary is a pleasant rural town. It is also convenient to Foxford and fishing in the river Moy.

This compact village is very centrally located in Mayo and is surrounded by many recreational and leisure amenities.

Famous People

Representing Mayo in the annual Rose of Tralee gala event in 2012, was Ballyvary native Dervla Kenny, daughter of Councillor Henry Kenny and niece of An Taoiseach Enda Kenny.

Academy Award nominee Imelda Staunton's parents are natives of Ballyvary and nearby village Bohola. Ms Staunton is famous for roles in Vera Drake (2004), Nanny McPhee (2005) and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007).
