A request to the Swinford residents....
Hello. I am working on a family tree project for my daughter and I was wondering if anyone in Swinford might be able to help me trace our roots. My great-grandmother Nora Gallagher was born in or around Killaturley Swinford in March of 1895. Her father's name was Patrick, her mother's I believe was Mary. She had several siblings-some of their names I am sure about and some I am not. I know of a Mary, Patrick, Martin, and Winnifred. I think she may have also had brothers named Micheal and Thomas and maybe a few others. I have also heard that her father Patricks' father may also have been a Patrick Gallagher. That he was called "Fatch More"or "Fatch Fatch More". I'm not sure what this means but thought it might be useful. Nora left for the US circa 1914. I know her sister Mary also immigrated to the US around the same period and that some of her other siblings went to England. Nora settled in Concord, New Hampshire once in America and married a fellow Irishman named John Francis Hardiman who was from Castlebar. Unfortunatly my Eekee (as we called her) died when I was 10 and most of the stories I have heard are spotty and possibly exaggerated.(Both my Eekee and my Grammy-her daughter- had wild imaginations!)I will always cherish the tales I was told, but I am also looking for some more concrete history of our family so that I may share it with the next generation. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. [removed]
