I too am looking for distant family in Swinford. My grandfather, Joseph P. Lydon was born in Swinford in 1878. He went to St. Louis, MO, USA in the late 1890's. He and another brother brought their mother, Mary Lavin Lydon, over in 1903. Mary Lavin Lydon's parents had died in St. Louis about ten years before she came. Her husband was a James Lydon. I know that there was a cousin living in Kilkelly back in 1993, a Peter Anthony Lydon. I'm hoping to get in touch with him. I have an article from the Irish Press, date unknown, but around Sept. 1993. It speaks of County Mayo establishing an Olympic museum in County Mayo. Did it ever happen. My grandfather was in the 1904 Olympics,and is mentioned in the article. Mary
