Barrett's from Market Square, Ballina
Does anyone remember the Barrett family from the Market Square(now the tea rooms).I'm trying to find out info about my Grandad James Barrett who was born there in 1906. His Mother Mary Barrett nee Kelly lived there until her death in 1947. James Barrett's sister Margaret was Peggy Currans Mother, we know she died in childbirth and Mary Barrett helped bring up the children until she died in 1947. James had 2 brothers Patrick and Michael and 2 sisters Maragret and Mary. I believe that Patrick and Mary both moved to America. James married Norah Walsh from lena she worked at the Imperial Hotel, James drove for Ruddys. They had 9 children, James, Micky, Mary, Joe, Marty, Frank, Brian, Noreen & Brenda who all moved to the UK in 1949. They also lived at Ferrin Terrace, Ballina. I believe that Patrick Barrett was James father and came from the Netley Park estate where he met his wife Mary Kelly in 1901. We are not sure why they moved to Ballina. If anyone remembers them or has any info, I'd really like to hear from you. Thank you Nikki
