LOOKING FOR - KATHLEEN K.
Kiltullagh Townland is only about 6-7 Km outside Ballyhaunis. There was a church on top of Kiltullagh Hill until about 1870. Kil is Irish for Church. Tullagh is an Irish word for Hill. Hence Kiltullagh = Church on the hill. Kiltullagh is also the name given to the R.C. Parish for Cloonfad, Granlahan and Ballinlough. The R.C. records for Kiltullagh Parish commenced in 1839. Do you have your own record of this marriage handed down. Do you know was Bridget Rogers from Kiltullagh townland itself or was she from Kiltullagh Parish. There was a John Rogers in Kiltullagh Townland who was married to a Bridget Jennings. They had children through the 1840s and up to Jan 1854. Based on finanial contributions to the Church for baptisms they were better heeled than most. Interestingly there are no records of the name Cox in Kiltullagh Parish Records from 1840 - 1880. It is however a surname in townlands to the North of Ballyhaunis. It is very possible that a match was made - the townlands are not too far away. Ballyhaunis would have been the common local town to both.
